The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is preparing to launch its Communication Satellite-03 (CMS-03) aboard the Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM3) rocket on November 2, 2025. The mission, titled LVM3-M5, will mark the fifth operational flight of India’s heavy-lift launch vehicle.
ISRO noted that CMS-03 is a multi-band communication satellite intended to provide services across a vast oceanic region including the Indian landmass. With a launch weight of around 4,400 kilograms, it will be the heaviest communication satellite to be placed into geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO) from Indian territory.
The LVM3 launch vehicle has been fully assembled and integrated with the satellite and was transported to the launch pad on October 26, 2025, to undergo final pre-launch checks.
Additionally, the CMS-03 satellite is expected to enhance communication services throughout the Indian subcontinent and surrounding oceanic zones. It will bolster the country’s digital communications infrastructure by offering more reliable connectivity and broader coverage, supporting improved communications for both mainland and maritime regions.
