The Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on September 17, 2025 inaugurated space technology (spacetech) startup OrbitAID Aerospace’s research and development (R&D) facility in Bengaluru, which will act as a hub for providing lifetime refuelling services to existing and upcoming satellites.
OrbitAID works in on-orbit servicing and refuelling (OOSR) and has set up a 6,500-square-foot R&D facility in Bengaluru with an investment of over $2 million (Rs 180 million).
The facility houses a new control room for operating the RPOD system, a class 10,000 cleanroom, and fuel transfer infrastructure to support satellite assembly and integration. Speaking at the inauguration, the chairman highlighted the critical role of advancing technologies such as docking
and refuelling interfaces, while also stressing the importance of services like satellite life extension in shaping the future of India’s space ecosystem.
