Iraq’s Ministry of Communications plans to issue tenders to update I the country’s fixed telecom network. The project aims to provide fixed wireless telephone, internet and fax services to homes, businesses and government establishments all over Iraq. It also aims to increase the telephone service penetration from its current level of 4.5 per cent to about 25 per cent within 10 years. The government plans to award two competing nationwide licences.
