Intex to establish a Rs 1 billion handset facility in Himachal Pradesh

Intex Technologies plans to establish a mobile handset manufacturing facility at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, say news reports.

The company will be investing Rs 1 billion to set up the manufacturing plant. Initially, the company is looking at a capacity of 250,000 handsets per month. Later, it will also use the facility to manufacture tablets.

Currently, the company is running a manufacturing unit at Badli with a capacity of 200,000 mobile chargers and batteries per month. Intex is planning to increase the existing capacity to 1 million units in the next six months.
