Intel has partnered with Tata Group to manufacture and assemble semiconductors in India, with the collaboration also aimed at accelerating artificial intelligence (AI) PC adoption across consumer and enterprise segments.
Under the plan, the two companies will explore manufacturing and packaging of Intel chips at Tata Electronics’ upcoming sites, including the semiconductor fabrication project in Dholera, Gujarat, and an assembly and packaging facility in Assam. The combined investment earmarked for these units is around Rs 1.18 trillion.
Both sides also plan to work together on advanced packaging in India, bringing together Intel’s AI compute reference designs and Tata Electronics’ manufacturing capabilities.
