Infotel Broadband Services Private Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), has invited bids from tower operators willing to lease out around 26,000 towers across the country, according to news reports.

The company won pan-India spectrum for broadband wireless access (BWA) last year. It is believed that Viom Networks Limited and GTL Infrastructure Limited will put in bids.

In June 2010, RIL announced its re-entry into the telecom space by acquiring a 95 per cent stake in Infotel Broadband Services, a privately held telecom services company, for Rs 48 billion. Infotel had, in June, received spectrum to roll out broadband wireless services in 22 circles across India for Rs 128.47 billion.
