
Indonesian Sitra Wi-Max, a subsidiary of PT First Media, has launched commercial 4G Wi-Max services in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi, the Banten area, Northern Sumatra and Aceh.
PT First Media, which has reportedly invested $50 million towards the launch of Sitra Wi-Max, plans to spend $350 million to further develop the business. The capex is being funded through a $52 million rights issue, internal resources and bank loans. Sitra Wi-Max, which was awarded 15 MHz of bandwidth in the 2.3 GHz band in July 2009, intends to sign up 1 million subscribers by 2013.
