Union minister of electronics and IT, internet and broadcasting and railways has revealed that a telecom system powered by domestically manufactured chips has received certification from the Telecommunication Engineering Center (TEC).
The TEC, which functions under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), grants official approval after systems meet strict quality and performance benchmarks. This certification represents a crucial step in India’s push for technological self-reliance under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Although India has yet to establish advanced semiconductor fabrication plants, this move highlights the country’s advancing capabilities in semiconductor design and fabrication while strengthening its position in the global telecom and electronics space.
The focus on the 28nm-65nm range is aimed at meeting rising demand in various sectors.
