According to the union minister of state (independent charge) for science and technology; earth sciences and minister of state for prime minister’s office, department of atomic energy, department of space, personnel, public grievances and pensions, India’s space sector has attracted over $600 million in private investment over the past five years.
During a review, the minister assessed plans to set up space laboratories in universities and colleges, with seven such labs to be launched in the first phase. These labs are intended to provide hands-on experience in satellite systems, rocketry and mission design, helping build a skilled talent pool for the growing space sector.
The review followed a presentation by the Chairman of Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre, who highlighted progress in space sector reforms and the rising participation of private players across the value chain.
