According to a report by TechInsights, India experienced a 5 per cent year-on-year (YoY) fall in shipments in the third quarter (Q3) of 2023. Meanwhile, Apple experienced a record-breaking quarter for shipments, alongside Tecno, Infinix, and Motorola, who also witnessed highest-ever shipments in Q3 2023.

As per the report, while some nations, such as Brazil, Canada, Japan, and Mexico, thrived with stable or increased shipments, others did not do as well. China, like India, witnessed a slight 5 per cent drop in total shipments, though Huawei and OnePlus increased their numbers significantly.

In Japan, Apple’s share was dipped below 50 per cent for two consecutive quarters due to the weaker sales performance of the iPhone 15 series. Google capitalised on this opportunity, rising to the second spot for the first time, propelled by the affordable Pixel series.

In addition, Mexico’s top five original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including Samsung, Xiaomi, Motorola, Apple, and Honor, captured 84 per cent share of the total market. The country also recorded the highest growth in shipments among the 15 countries, coming in at around 15 per cent. Russia, on the other hand, faced the steepest decline in shipments at 35 per cent, significantly higher than any other country.
