According to chief executive officer (CEO), Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), India’s growing strength in satellite communication (satcom), is reportedly backed by Indian Space Research Organisations’ (ISRO’s) technical expertise and active startup partnerships, is positioning the country as a global leader in digital connectivity.

He noted that India’s satcom ecosystem is expanding on the foundation of local talent and collaboration, describing it as a strong bridge between ISRO and the private sector that will drive the next phase of India’s satcom revolution.

Highlighting India’s indigenous achievements, he pointed to the success of the NavIC navigation system as evidence of the nation’s ability to build world-class technologies. He added that ISRO’s ongoing accomplishments are empowering India’s efforts to extend satcom access to remote regions and enhance national security.

Further, touching upon the semiconductor ecosystem, he said chip design and manufacturing are critical to India’s long-term technological independence, calling semiconductors and satcom interconnected pillars of the country’s innovation strategy. He further stressed the importance of coordination among government agencies and research institutions, and while acknowledging improved access to capital through various initiatives, he emphasised that the next focus must be on execution.
