According to the chairman of the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA), mobile phone production in the country is projected to reach $75 billion by the end of the current financial year, including exports of more than $30 billion.
He added that India recorded strong growth in electronics manufacturing, with production reaching $133 billion in 2025, while exports continued to expand at a sharp pace. He said the deepening of the value chain through the electronics components manufacturing scheme and approvals for semiconductor projects have broadly met industry expectations for building a wider and more resilient ecosystem.
He further noted that the conclusion of the mobile phone production-linked incentive scheme in March 2026 will mark a key transition point, enabling scale consolidation and shaping plans for the next phase of competitiveness in the sector.
