According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Communications, Electronics and Information Technology and Railways, India’s 5G roll out is one of the fastest roll outs in the world and 2023 will be momentous year for the country . With the help from 5G testbed at IIT Madras , India seems to be emerging as an exporter of telecom equipment and technology     .

Companies like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have been rolling out their 5G networks in a phased manner since October 2022, with current coverage over 600 cities with their 5G services. With the usage of 5G lab ecosystem in over 100 universities across India, it will add momentum to the statrtups, considering that country’s 4G/5G telecom stack has been tested for 10 million simultaneous connections.

Further, Vaishnaw said that the launch of Digital India mission touched the lives of over a billion people, adding that the government’s telecom reforms have resulted in the robustness in the sector.
