According to findings by Airtel Business, Indian telecom operators are uniquely positioned to unlock huge potential for their enterprise customers, chiefly with 5G network technology.

Airtel Business report further state that by leveraging existing network infrastructure, differentiation can further be created through data centre and cloud offerings. Having software-driven networks that use AI/ML, predictive analytics, and automation allows communication service providers (CSPs) to provide faster, predictable, and secure networks.

The report further details the use cases that private LTE and 5G can unlock across verticals. It can lead way for smart factories in the manufacturing vertical.

The report underlined that superfast wireless networks can revolutionise the healthcare sector, retail sector, enable smart cities, transform the banking experience, and help drive India’s cloud gaming ecosystem, as well as create augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) experiences.

Accordingly, telecom operators may need to change their value proposition from “simple network capacity providers to innovative digital service providers” which will, in turn, require high-level collaborations and partnerships. From a technological point-of-view, Airtel Business said the internet of things (IoT), cloud computing, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), edge computing, cyber security, and digital twin will drive the next-generation networks. At the same time, becoming 5G-ready is a capital-intensive task for organisations.

The report emphasised that the trend to become 5G-ready will only gain momentum as enterprises prepare for the rollout of 5G network technology. Airtel Business suggests from developing capabilities to deploy solutions through use cases such as IoT, AR/VR, edge computing, to improving customer experience, telecom companies and enterprises need to work jointly to build the product, process, and talent required for a successful 5G business model.
