Indian Railways is in talks with 5G enabled entertainment platform, SpeedFetch (SF), to provide Wi-Fi services to the passengers. The latter has already started pilot projects for the same in select locations.
The company will deploy SF boxes in the train coaches and Wi-Fi hotspots of Ozone Wi-Fi Networks at the railway stations. The SF box will contain locally stored content. When the train would enter a new station, the content present in that station will enter the train?s SF box, through the Wi-Fi connection. .
SpeedFetch application has the capability of working in both online as well as offline modes. The users can access the curated SpeedFetch content at zero data costs in the case of no internet connectivity in the trains. In an area with internet access, users can access both curated content as well as other internet services.
