Cisco has reportedly warned that Indian organisations are at risk of accumulating technical debt in the artificial intelligence (AI) era as they fall behind on critical parameters such as securing AI agents and optimising networks. The company’s latest survey shows that while enterprises in India are rolling out AI agents rapidly, they are struggling to secure them. Only 27 per cent of respondents rated their networks as “optimal”, and 45 per cent reported inadequate power infrastructure despite expecting their AI workloads to grow by more than 50 per cent.

Cisco has found that global “pacesetter” organisations, those that adopted AI at scale early are outperforming others. These companies invested in architecture ahead of demand, addressing potential workload pressures, emerging bottlenecks and security challenges before they became critical.
