According to the report by EMC titled ?EMC Global Data Protection Index?, the data protection maturity of the Indian enterprises is much higher than that of the enterprises in the developed markets such as Germany, France and UK. According to the Index, India has a data protection maturity score of 36.6.

However, the data protection maturity of the country is slightly lower than that of US and China. The report has awarded a score of 42.48 to China, which was found to be the most mature market for data protection.

The report highlighted that the average annual data loss per company is 1.78 TB, which is equivalent to a cost of $2.8 million. Also, the enterprises with three or more data protection vendors suffer more disruptions and data loss.

The company surveyed 3,300 enterprises in 24 countries and concluded that the global enterprises incurred $54.8 billion in losses due to data loss and system downtime in the last one year. According to the company, the biggest reasons for these disruptions have been the hardware and software failure followed by security breaches such as viruses, cyber-terrorism, etc.
