The government has announced a temporary halt on accepting new proposals under the IndiaAI Mission following the conclusion of the third round of applications. The deadline for this phase has been extended to April 22, 2025 from the earlier April 15, 2025.

Post April 22, 2025, the portal will not accept further submissions until further notice. Any updates regarding the reopening of the application process will be published on the official portal.

The initiative to support the development of Indian artificial intelligence models has reportedly received robust interest. In the first round, 67 proposals were submitted, 22 for large language models (LLMs) or multimodal models, and 45 for small language models (SLMs). In the second round, the government received 120 proposals, comprising 36 for LLMs and 84 for SLMs. This takes the total number of applications to nearly 190 so far, which are currently under evaluation.
