The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has reportedly decided to impose a permanent ban on 59 China-based apps in India.

The move comes as the government is not satisfied after reviewing responses from the companies on issues such as compliance and privacy. According to industry sources, the government has sent notices to the companies informing them of its decision.

However, several among the 59 Chinese apps that have been permanently banned are reportedly weighing the option of challenging the order in court.
