According to Rajeev Chandrashekhar, Union Minister of State for Information Technology, India is one of the first countries to deliver indigenous 5G that is designed and built in India unlike the 2G, 3G, and 4G network that were imported from outside.

The minister believes the 5G rollout is a crucial step. He further noted that the speed, scale and social impact of Jio’s 4G rollout is unmatched in the world and that Jio is all set to play a leadership role in the 5G technology sector in India.

With regard to the recently concluded 5G spectrum auctions, Chandrashekhar noted that Jio has purchased the largest amount of 5G spectrum at Rs 880.78 billion. Consequently, Jio’s stake in the total spectrum auction is more than 50 per cent, the minster informed.
