India is reportedly planning to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan in the field of ICT to counter China’s growing influence on telecom and digital infrastructure.

Under the MoU, the two governments will jointly work on the introduction of 5G wireless networks, submarine fiber-optic cables and other technologies.

According to industry sources, preparations are underway to sign the MoU. The deal is expected to be closed in December 2020.
