According to the union minister of electronics and information technology, the time has come for India to move at a faster pace in its semiconductor journey to sustain progress in the coming years.

He outlined a roadmap for India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0, stating that it would take a reverse approach compared to ISM 1.0. The new phase will focus on strengthening the design ecosystem, bringing the materials ecosystem to the forefront and expanding the talent pool to bridge industry gaps.

The minister stressed that the highest priority under ISM 2.0 will be the design ecosystem. He added that the objective is to enable Indian deep technology startups to build globally competitive companies similar to Qualcomm, Broadcom and Nvidia.
