According to the Speedtest Global Index by Ookla, India has jumped four spots in rank globally for median mobile speeds, from 47th in August 2023 to 43rd in September 2023.
In September 2022, India was at the 188th position with a median mobile download speed of 13.87 Mbps. However, in September 2023, India stands at the 43rd rank with a median mobile download speed of 54.05 Mbps. As 5G penetrates more parts of the country, India will only see its rank going up in the coming months, Ookla noted.
Ookla further added that in comparison to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) which is on top of the list with the median mobile download speed of 211.58 Mbps, India is still quite far behind.
