China-based applications Baidu Search and Weibo have been blocked by the Indian government.

To this end, the government has asked to remove these applications from the app stores of Google and Apple, and directed the internet service providers (IPSs) to block them.

The two apps are among the flagship internet products of China and are dubbed as the country’s answer to Google search and Twitter respectively.

According to industry sources, Baidu Search and Weibo are among the 47 new apps that the government had banned on July 27, 2020.
