At the seventh Joint Consultative Commission (JCC) meeting held on June 19, 2022, India and Bangladesh have decided to expand their strategic partnership for the development of cooperation in areas of artificial intelligence (AI), cyber security, startups and fintech, besides expanding ties in railways and cross-border river management and conservation.

As per S. Jaishankar, India’s minister of external affairs comprehensive management and conservation of rivers, as well as the countries’ shared environmental responsibility, especially the Sundarbans, should be the key areas of cooperation as part of the two parties’ commitment to climate action.
