According to the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the all-India GSM subscriber base in the country witnessed an increase of 8.87 million users in January 2015, taking the total figure to 687.42 million as of January 2015.

Among the service providers, Bharti Airtel recorded the highest growth in GSM subscriber base during January 2015, with an addition of 2.84 million subscribers taking the operator?s overall subscriber base to 220.05 million. Idea Cellular and Vodafone India added 2.22 million and 1.82 million subscribers, respectively.

Meanwhile, among the service areas, the Bihar circle witnessed the maximum number of net addition of 1.45 million new subscribers during January 2015. Among the metro circles, Delhi added 279,883 subscribers, while Mumbai and Chennai added 203,731 and 203,678, respectively. Kolkata added just 140,848 in January 2015.
