The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe) has launched an initiative inviting private companies to design and develop satellite-bus platforms to reduce India’s reliance on imports. Called the Satellite Bus as-a-Service (SBaaS), the programme aims to enable Indian non-governmental entities (NGEs) to create small satellite bus platforms for hosted payload applications.

Under this Announcement of Opportunity (AO), IN-SPACe will adopt a two-phase approach: Phase I will shortlist up to four non-government entities (NGEs) based on their technical capabilities to develop modular, multi-mission satellite buses, while Phase II will support up to two hosted payload missions to demonstrate the operational utility of the developed platforms.
