Idea Cellular has reported total revenues of Rs 66.13 billion for the third quarter ended December 31, 2013. For the period under review, the operator?s net profit witnessed a 105 per cent increase and stood at Rs 4.67 billion.

Further, for the third quarter ended December 31, 2013, Idea Cellular?s mobility business contributed Rs 65.36 billion to its total revenues, followed by its international long distance and tower business contributing Rs 1.03 billion and Rs 6.18 billion, respectively to the company?s total revenues.

The contribution of revenue from value added services increased to 16.1 per cent for the third quarter ended December 31, 2013. Idea Cellular?s data revenue as a per cent of service revenue stood at 9.5 per cent. However, for the quarter under review, the operator?s mobile data user base (2G and 3G) stood at 25.5 million. Idea Cellular bagged 4.6 million new 3G users in 2013 and operator?s total 3G user base (including voice and data users) reached 8.7 million. For the third quarter ended December 31, 2013, the 3G average revenue per user stood at Rs 112 per month.

Further, during 2013, the operator added 18 million new subscribers and currently has a subscriber base of 129 million. Idea Cellular expanded its presence to over 344,000 towns and villages with a capex of Rs 10.2 billion in the third quarter ended December 31, 2013. For the quarter under review, the operator?s average revenue per user stood at Rs 169.  The operator?s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at 37.7 per cent. The company?s EBITDA margin improved by 4.0 per cent to 27.4 per cent on account of improved rate realisation, cost optimisation and scale benefits.
