Idea Cellular is likely to invest Rs 35 billion in developing network infrastructure, to launch 3G services in the Delhi circle by 2015.
In the recent round of spectrum auction concluded in February 2014, the operator won 5 MHz of spectrum in the 900 MHz band in the Delhi circle. Idea plans to use this spectrum to introduce 3G services in the Delhi circle.
At present Idea has 3G licence in 11 circles – Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (East and West), Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
Besides, launching 3G services in the Delhi circle, the operator also plans to launch 3G services in the Punjab circle going forward.
