Idea Cellular has launched mobile operations in Mumbai. The company, which is planning to invest Rs 8 billion in the circle in 2009-10, intends to spend Rs 6 billion for rolling out operations while the balance will go towards licence fees. The company hopes to attract 20 per cent of the circle’s new users per month over the next year and expects to break even in four years. Idea is also planning to launch services in Bihar, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu and Orissa by January 2009. It will start services in Karnataka and Punjab after completing Spice Communications’ acquisition.
