Idea Cellular has approached the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) against the Department of Telecommunications? (DoT) decision to impose additional liquidated damages on it for not meeting roll-out obligations in two circles.
The operator stated that the additional penalty has been imposed for the circles for which TDSAT had already dismissed the penalty case on December 5, 2011.
The counsel appearing for Idea Cellular stated, ?When the principal demand is not sustained, how can an additional demand be made?”.
Meanwhile, TDSAT has directed DoT to file reply by January 11, 2012.
