Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has launched a helpdesk for mobile and mobile component makers seeking to relocate their production bases in India.

With this helpdesk, IAMAI aims to provide on-ground support and handholding to individual firms. This will help strengthen the trust between these individual firms and IAMAI.

The development comes in the backdrop of the government’s recent announcement of three major schemes, namely, the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors (SPECS) and Modified Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMC 2.0) Scheme. The three schemes are aimed at boosting the electronics manufacturing sector.

IAMAI is planning to leverage its international partners for the helpdesk. As part of the endeavour, it will actively promote the enabling policies of the Indian government in overseas markets such as East Asia, Europe, and the USA, with a view to establishing India as a preferred investment destination in electronics manufacturing.
