Huawei Technologies has been awarded a contract by Malaysian operator DiGi.Com for rolling out the latter’s 3G network.

According to the terms of the contract, Huawei will supply UMTS radio access and packet switched core network services and equipment, and will be responsible for the design, supply, installation, integration, optimisation and maintenance of the first phase of DiGi’s 3G mobile broadband network. DiGi’s 3G network is slated to be launched commercially by early 2009.
