China-based Huawei has appointed Bi Yunfeng as CEO of Huawei Technologies’ India research and development (R&D) centre, the company’s first and largest R&D centre overseas. As part of his new role, Yunfeng will work towards strengthening the R&D capabilities of the centre by collaborating with the industry ecosystem for information and communications technology (ICT) solutions, leading the R&D centre’s growth in new business areas, and enhancing Huawei Technologies’ India position. Yunfeng succeeds William Zhao, who has joined Huawei’s consumer business group in Shenzhen, China, in a leadership role. Yunfeng joined Huawei in 2001 as an engineer. Since then, he has worked across teams and product lines, including access networks, fixed networks and storage.
