According to Dell?Oro Group, Huawei led the wavelength division multiplexer market (WDM) in the first quarter of 2014, ahead of Ciena, Alcatel-Lucent and ZTE.
Further, the WDM market, comprising long haul and metro applications, grew by 12 per cent in the first quarter of 2014. Telecom service providers? strategy to add network capacity was the key growth driver for the WDM market. The research firm states that globally, operators are making significant investments to increase their network capacity to meet the growing bandwidth requirements of consumers.
Going forward, Dell?Oro Group expects the ongoing rollouts of 100 G to play a key role in sustaining growth in the WDM market.
