Huawei has been appointed by the Saudi Telecom Company (STC) to deploy the largest pre-commercial LTE network in Saudi Arabia. The rollout of this network is expected to be completed by end-2010, covering metropolitan areas such as Riyadh and Dammam. The first phase of the project has been delivered successfully, offering peak downlink data rates of up to 100 Mbps per user with commercial LTE data cards in the field. In addition, Huawei has deployed its IP microwave products of RTN900 series into STC’s LTE backhaul.
