HMD Global, the maker of Nokia-branded handsets, has appointed Ravi Kunwar to head its India operations. Kunwar, previously the vice president of Asia Pacific and China, has now been appointed vice president of the Indian subcontinent, Vietnam and Indonesia.

Kunwar has over 25 years of experience in mobile and consumer durable industries. Prior to joining HMD, he served as the director of sales and marketing for mobile devices and services business at Microsoft India. Before Microsoft, he worked at Nokia for around 11 years. He has extensive experience in working in the India and the Asia Pacific markets. Previously working from Singapore, has moved to India to spearhead the local operations closely.

Meanwhile, Sanmeet Singh Kochhar, vice president, HMD Global, is still involved in Indian operations looking after the exports from India as it is a part of the company’s global operations.
