The Delhi High Court has sought a response from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on a petition alleging irregularities in the appointment of CMDs of BSNL and MTNL. The court also issued notices to Kuldeep Singh and R.K. Upadhyay who have been recommended for the post of CMD in MTNL and BSNL respectively. The court has passed the order on a joint petition filed by an NGO, Telecom Watchdog and Executive Association of Sanchar Nigam, pleading that procedure for appointment of heads of BSNL and MTNL was arbitrary and it should be annulled. The petition claims that telecom minister A Raja had personal biases in these appointments.
