HCL Infosystems and Nokia India have announced an extension of their long-term distribution strategy (which was to expire in 2006) under which Nokia will venture into direct distribution and sales of its mobile handsets in India. HCL Infosystems will no longer remain the exclusive distributor of Nokia. It will, however, continue to be Nokia’s sole distributor for half the country geographically till 2011. The other half will be catered to by Nokia.
Currently, the deal with Nokia reportedly accounts for over 70 per cent of HCL Infosystems’ revenues.
