The Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA) has appointed Vivek Badrinath as the director general and member of the GSMA board effective April 1, 2025.
Prior to this, Badrinath was chief executive officer (CEO) at Vantage Towers, subsidiary of Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi). He was also appointed as regional CEO of Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific at Vi. In addition, he served as deputy CEO at innovation, marketing and technology at Orange.
Badrinath would replace Mats Granryd who would step down as director general in March 2025. Granryd will further take on the new role of special advisor to the board for the remainder of 2025.
