GSM players add 2.23 million rural subscribers in the month of June 2013: COAI

According to the Cellular Operators Association of India, GSM service providers added 2.33 million new subscribers in June 2013.

The GSM operators? total subscriber base in rural areas in June 2013 stood at 271.6 million.  Bharti Airtel recorded the highest net additions of1.26 million users taking its total rural subscriber base to 85.9 million. Idea Cellular added 0.88 million users and the operator?s total rural user base stood at 68.7 billion.

Operators such as Aircel and Uninor added 0.3 million and 0.17 million rural users respectively during the month of June, taking their total rural subscriber base to 22.7 million and 10.2 million.

However, Vodafone India lost 0.28 million users and the operators? total rural subscriber base stood at 84 million during June 2013.
