As per data released by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), GSM operators added 7.27 million users in May, taking the total GSM user base to 677.85 million at end-May 2012.
Bharti Airtel led the pack, with the addition of 2.01 million subscribers, taking its total user base to 185.30 million.
Vodafone India followed, with a market share of 22.50 per cent and 1.2 million user additions. Idea Cellular added 1.75 million customers, taking its total GSM subscriber base to 116 million, while Aircel added 0.8 million customers.
Uninor added 1.52 million customers in May, taking its user base to
45.07 million and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) lost 0.17 million customers, to reach a subscriber base of 5.31 million.
