
According to the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), GSM telecom operators added 6.28 million new subscribers in October 2014. The total GSM subscriber base grew by 0.83 per cent from 756.08 million subscribers in September 2014 to 762.36 million subscribers in October 2014.
In October 2014, Bharti Airtel added the maximum number of new subscribers at 1.86 million. The operator?s total subscriber base stood at 213.4 million, with a market share of 27.99 per cent as of October 2014. Meanwhile, Idea Cellular added 1.85 million users, taking its total subscriber base to 145.4 million and market share to 19.07 per cent. It was followed by Vodafone India that added 1.01 million users, taking its total user base and market share to 174.8 million and 22.94 per cent, respectively.
Further, Aircel added 954,000 new users, taking its total subscriber base to 76.80 million, while Uninor recorded an increase of 420,000 users, increasing in its total user base to 42.24 million. Videocon Telecom and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) added 171,000 and 11,907 new subscribers, taking their total subscriber base to 6.11 million and 3.32 million, respectively.
The subscriber data provided by COAI does not include GSM subscribers of Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices Limited.
