A group of telecom companies including NEC Corporation, NEC Electronics Corporation, Matsushita Electric Industrial Company, Panasonic Mobile Communications and Texas Instruments will form a 3G mobile phone joint venture called Adcore-Tech. This entity will focus on the global development, design and technology licensing for a hardware and software communications platform surrounding 3G technology. Separately, NEC Corporation, Matsushita and Panasonic plan to establish a company for developing mobile handsets.
