According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Communications, Electronics and Information Technology and Railways, the government is working on developing an Indian mobile phone brand by drawing inspiration from the widespread success of mobile manufacturing in the country.
The minister noted that government is planning to work towards developing an Indian mobile phone brand with the goal to establish a comprehensive mobile ecosystem within the nation. The lessons learned from the initial success in large-scale mobile production are excellent. He further added that as a result, the industry now feels much more confident, and ecosystem partners are now more inclined to visit India.
Furthermore, he added that the government is likely to approve two to three semiconductor manufacturing plants. The Prime Minister has given a clear blueprint for the development of the semiconductor ecosystem in the country.
