The government is planning to set up National Telecom Network Security Coordination Board (NTNSCB) to supervise the telecom and cyber security issues. The board will suggest measures to address issues related to network security.
The board will be constituted within the Ministry of Communications and IT and will be headed by the telecom secretary. It will have representatives from the Defence Ministry and Ministry of Home Affairs, the IT department, the intelligence bureau, National Security Advisor and National Technical Research Organisation among others. The board will set up objectives and targets for these departments and agencies handling telecom and cyber security related issues.
Currently, several ministries and intelligence agencies look into the security related issues leading to an overlap in certain areas. This leads to unnecessary delay in decision making in projects of national importance.
