According to the Ministry of Commerce, the government will look into the suspension of operations by Nokia Corporation at the Chennai manufacturing unit. Further, the government will take necessary steps to stop such incidents from re-occurring in the future.

Nokia has announced the shutdown of its manufacturing unit in India, beginning November 2014 citing the termination of the transitional service agreement (TSA) with Microsoft on that date. It had signed a TSA for the manufacturing plant as it was not a part of Microsoft?s acquisition of Nokia due to the latter?s tax dispute of Rs 210 billion with the government.
