The government has informed the parliament that it is considering developing an operating system as part of its efforts to push the design and innovation ecosystem in the electronics and IT sector. Operating systems play a key role in weaving together applications in a computer or mobile device with hardware.
However, no funds have been allocated by the government to develop an Indian mobile operating system yet. Also, the government is in favour of export of these operating systems outside India.
