The government is working towards bringing parity between the pay scales of employees at Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited with their counterparts in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited. Along with an equal remuneration, the government is also going to bring pension benefits of the two companies at par. It is looking at achieving this at the time of the next wage revision which is scheduled for 2017.
Currently, MTNL employees get higher compensation as compared to BSNL employees. The move to bring parity between the remuneration of the two organisations is part of the government?s overall plan to revive the two loss-making public sector telecom companies.
