The government has received investment proposals worth over Rs 253.52 billion for setting up of electronics manufacturing facilities in the country under the two schemes launched for promoting domestic production of electronic goods. While 58 investment proposals of about Rs 190.57 billion have been received under Modified-Special Incentive Package Scheme (M-SIPS), 34 proposals worth Rs 62.95 billion have been received under the Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMC) scheme.
Under M-SIPS, 58 proposals are for electronic hardware manufacturing. Of these, 30 proposals have already been approved and five proposals have been recommended for approval. Of the 34 proposals received under EMS, 16 proposals have been accorded in-principle approval and 10 are under appraisal process.
